On July 28, 2009, Iraqi Police force, primarily made up of Iran's Qods Force mercenaries, ordered by Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki acting at the behest of Iran's Ali Khamenei, launched a savage attack on Camp Ashraf, residence of the unarmed and defenseless members of Iran's main opposition, the People's Mojahedin (PMOI) and their families. The attack was carried out as US forces stood by watching and taking pictures. Up to this moment, at least 11 unarmed and defenseless residents of Ashraf have been killed by Iraqi troops. Nearly 400 are wounded, 36 abducted by Iraqis as hostage. Camp Ashraf is still under siege. So far 11 Ashraf residents have been murdered and nearly 500 wounded. 36 of the badly beaten individuals were abducted by Iraqi forces on July 28.
